Seven injured in earthquake occurred in Bajura

Altogether five persons were reported injured in Bajura district of Sudurpaschim Province when an earthquake hit Bajura district on Tuesday afternoon.

The quake measuring 5.3 on Richter scale and having the epicenter at Talkot of the district damaged some houses and other physical infrastructures in the district.

The injured ones were immediately rushed to hospital for treatment, said Narayan Pandey, Chief District Officer (CDO) in Bajhang. However, no human fatality was reported so far in the quake, informed CDO Pandey.

The injured ones' condition is normal while more details on the extent of damages by the quake and human conditions were awaited, according to the CDO.

He shared that there were reports that some houses in district headquarters and its surroundings were damaged while some were rendered uninhabitable.

Public office buildings including that of Masta rural municipality's ward no-1 were reduced to rubble by the quake.

Patients at the District Hospital in Bajhang were provided services outdoors after the tremor was felt.

Sudurpaschim Province Police Office Chief and DIG Bharat Bahadur Bohora informed that a person returning home from school in Baitadi district got injured by the stone fallen from the cliff and another one collecting grass also received injury due to quake-triggered landslide.

He also said that no human fatalities were reported so far while the condition of the injured ones was normal.

Meanwhile, a huge tremor was experienced in Doti district at 3:07 pm on Tuesday and subsequent aftershocks continue to jolt Doti.

A tremor measuring 6.3 on Richter Scale with an epicentre in Chainpur was measured by the Earthquake Measurement Centre in Surkhet with an epicentre in Chainpur, Bajhang while another one with 5.3 on Richter scale with epicentre at Talkot in the district.
