Melamchi Municipality in Sindhupalchowk district has fixed a siren as the flood early warning system to the communities residing on the riverbank areas. With the installation of the siren, it is expected that there will be reduction in the humanitarian loss from the flood. The heavy flooding and landslides occurred two weeks ago caused destruction in Melamchi and Helambu area claiming lives of many people and damaging huge properties.
