Spain has committed to supporting Nepal by providing medical supplies to tackle the ongoing COVID crisis. The country has witnessed many patients struggling to survive due to a lack of medicines, oxygen supply, and beds in hospitals.
The government of Spain will soon provide Nepal with medical supplies as the latter had asked for assistance, according to Nepali Ambassador to Spain, Dawa Futi Sherpa.

Ambassador Sherpa wrote on Twitter, "Heartbreaking COVID-19 situation in #Nepal. We are working to get humanitarian assistance from #Spain urgently. We all have family and friends who have been affected. Please stay safe."

It has been learnt that Ambassador Sherpa along with Spain's government officials will bring the medical supplies on a chartered flight arranged by Spain on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of Nepal in Spain has also been seeking information about Spanish nationals currently in Nepal who may wish to depart due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. A form has been made available for Nepali citizens with Spanish Residence Permit.

Moreover, Ambassador Sherpa has also appealed to various non-government organisations to assist Nepal in this difficult situation.

Earlier, the European Union had announced it would assist Nepal with medical supplies worth Rs 280 million.
