Sudurpaschim Province Assembly members from the ruling party have expressed discontent on the budget unveiled by the provincial government for the upcoming fiscal year 2021/22.

Taking part in the province assembly deliberations on budget, assembly members belonging to ruling CPN-UML drew the attention of the executive towards budget amendment noting it was not introduced in line with the policy, programme and objectives. The budget also has unequal and unbalanced allocations, excluding several pertinent matters.

Those expressed their displeasure over the budget were province assembly members Krishna Raj Subedi, Sushila Budhathoki, Kulbir Chaudhary and Bal Bahadur Sodari. Province assembly members of the ruling party, Durga Kumari Kami and Shanti Nepali had also taken part in the deliberations.

Province Assembly member of the main opposition Nepali Congress, Bharat Bahadur Khadka accused the government of bringing the budget by breaching its process, method and systems. He said the budget therefore has not adopted the principles of balanced and judicious distribution of the public resources.

Also speaking on the occasion, NC’s province assembly members, Devraj Pathak, Dibyaswori Shah and Govinda Raj Bohora criticized the government for not bringing the budget in consistent with the policy and programme and imposing discrimination while allocating resources.

The province government has appropriated a budget of Rs 30 billion 339.4 million for the fiscal year 2021/22.
