Senior leader of the CPN UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has said that the Supreme Court has enhanced its reputation through the verdict that it issued today on the case related to the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
He added the verdict has helped save the constitution, parliament and also democracy in the country. Nepal further mentioned that the verdict had not only helped reinstate the House of Representatives but also saved the parliamentary principles and democratic values of Nepal.
Leader Nepal added that there was some confusion in the constitution which the verdict has helped dispel.
The Supreme Court has stated that when lawmakers cross the floor during the process initiated to elect a prime minister as per Article 76 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal the respective parliamentarians will not lose their membership or post. This decision has clarified the spirit of the article, Nepal added.
