The Supreme Court has issued a verdict in favour of Krishna Thapa of the Rastriya Janamorcha. The apex court has directed that Thapa be reinstated to the National Assembly of Gandaki Province.

A single bench of Justice Kumar Chudal today issued an interim order stating that until and unless the writ filed by Thapa has been finalised he should be reinstated in the National Assembly.

Thapa had filed a writ at the Supreme Court on June 4 after he lost his seat at the National Assembly of Gandaki Province. His petition stated that he had not renounced his party membership and not gone against the party whip.

After Rastriya Janamorcha forwarded a letter to the secretariat of the National Assembly informing about Thapa being expelled from the party, Speaker of the Gandaki National Assembly informed the house on June 3 about Thapa being expelled from the party. Consequently, Thapa lost his seat in the assembly.

Rastriya Janamorcha had taken a decision to support the opposition party in the government in the provincial assembly but Thapa had issued a public statement mentioning that he would not support the government.
