Police here today arrested Subba Tamang (Luppa) of Nuwakot, who was convicted in kidnapping of Dr Bhaktaman Shrestha, after 13 years.
The 39-year-old Tamang of Bidur municipality-12, was nabbed while hiding in a relative's house nearby his house, confirmed DSP Khagendra Bahadur Khadka at the District Police Office, Nuwakot.
Tamang had abducted Dr Shrestha, then Executive Director of the BP Memorial Cancer Hospital at Chitwan, and had been on the run since the abduction. Upon his arrest, police submitted him to the District Court in Chitwan for implementation of the verdict.
The District Court in Chitwan, finding him guilty in the abduction of Dr Shrestha, had sentenced him for 13 years and slapped a cash fine of Rs 100,000. The Court has sent the arrested one to the prison today itself.
Altogether six people including Tamang were found guilty in the abduction case of the doctor. While some culprits were already held by police, some were still fleeing, informed DSP Khadka.
