Two held with tiger skin in Banke

Police arrested two persons in possession of a tiger skin from Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality on Tuesday night.

The arrested have been identified as Jitendra Shahi (19), a local resident of Bhairabi Rural Municipality-3 in Dailkeh district, and Santosh Kunwar (31), a local resident of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan-9 in Dang district.

They were riding on a scooter with vehicle registration number RA 4 PA 6504. Acting on a tip-off, joint security personnel deployed from the Banke-based District Police Office and Kohalpur-based Area Police Office nabbed them with the skin in their possession during a routine vehicle check. The police recovered the skin from the luggage compartment of the scooter.

Further investigation into the case is underway and they have been tried under the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 2029.
