The first meeting of the 10-member taskforce formed to resolve the internal disputes within the CPN-UML has concluded today. The meeting was held at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singhadurbar.

The meeting has decided to frame the working area, guidelines and code of conduct and move ahead accordingly.

Bhim Rawal, a member of the taskforce, mentioned that the taskforce has appealed to all party leaders and members to cooperate and coordinate to resolve the issues that have been plaguing the party in recent days. He informed that the taskforce has decided to appeal to all concerned to stay away from activities that could lead to a sense of distrust developing within the party.

Meanwhile, leaders Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Shankar Pokharel were not able to attend the meeting due to their busy work schedule.

The taskforce was supposed to meet on Monday but as Rawal was facing some health problems it could not be held as per schedule.

The 10-member task force was formed after an understanding was reached between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairperson of the party, and senior party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on Sunday (May 16).

The taskforce includes Surendra Pandey, Bhim Rawal, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Gokarna Bista, and Raghuji Pant from Nepal’s faction. Similarly, Subas Nembang, Bishnu Rimal, Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Shankar Pokhrel, and Pradeep Gyawali are representing the Oli faction.
