A draft constitution was proposed in the last Central Committee meeting of CPN (Maoist). The draft was passed in closed session of the 8th General Convention with some amendments. The same draft constitution of the CPN (Maoist) has been fully approved.
According to the approved legislation, the Maoist Central Committee will have 299 members and 15 office bearers. As per the constitution, the office bearers will have one chairperson, one senior vice chairperson, six vice chairpersons, one general secretary, two deputy general secretaries, three secretaries and one treasurer.
It has also been mentioned to make the office bearers inclusive. Similarly, the Central Committee has 50 percent open and 50 percent inclusive arrangement. 15 percent of the members will be nominated. Only 10 percent were nominated before.
According to a central member of the Maoists' Party, some amendments have been made in the draft and the National Council has also been provided as per the suggestion of the representative. He said that arrangements have been made to form non-geographical special committees within the states as well as at the center. Branches will be formed accordingly.
As soon as the constitution is passed, the standing committee meeting is going on in the closed session place at Pragya Pratishthan in Kamaladi, Kathmandu. The election process is set to begin after the meeting.
