Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha has pledged to amend policies related to culture for the preservation of the language and culture of the country. There is a need to amend policies related to culture to keep up with federalism, he stressed at an event in Janakpurdham on Friday.
The program was organized by the Nepal Bidhyapati Award Trust to distribute the Nepal Bidhyapati Award, 2021.
"Federalism has been implemented. Most of the things have been functioning as per spirits of federalism. But policies related to the culture have yet to keep up with federalism. So, we want to bring policies related to culture as per the system" he reminded.
He also assured that such policies would be formulated soon while guaranteeing the government's efforts to preserve the Maithili language and culture.
On the occasion, Ramesh Ranjan Jha was honored with the 'Nepal Bidhyapati Maithili Language Literature Award'. Similarly, Nirmala Jha and Ashok Kumar Datta were awarded the 'Nepal Bidhyapati Maithili Art Culture Award' while Dr. Surya Prasad Yadav and Arjun Prasad Gupta the 'Nepal Bidhyapati Research Award'.
