After the conclusion of the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, the attention of the Central Leaders of the Congress is now focused on the selection of the leadership of Province 2. Top leaders have intensified lobbying to maintain their dominance in the state. Central leaders from the federal capital Kathmandu have arrived in Janakpurdham for this.

Congress Rautahat Party President Krishna Yadav and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development of the two-state governments Ram Saroj Yadav have announced their candidacies for the post of state president from the first state convention.

The Election Committee has fixed the time for filing nomination papers at 2 pm at the local Gopal Dharamsala in Janakpurdham. Earlier, the time was fixed for the registration of names by the representatives of all the districts of the state from 8 am, said Ramesh Rijal, central member of the Nepali Congress and coordinator of the state 2 coordinating committee. Voting is set to begin on Wednesday morning. Stating that the election of representatives in the districts could not be held even after the inauguration of the state convention, the process of selecting new leadership in the state is about to start only after the general convention.

There are 1,920 voters, including 25 from 64 state constituencies in eight districts of the state. It is said that some central members may be added to this.
