CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Pradip Gyawali has said that pressure is needed to hold local elections.

"The prime minister has announced that local elections will be held in May, but the date has not been fixed, so there is no reason to believe until the announcement is made," he said at a party induction function at Rupendehi's Saina Maina.

General Secretary Gyawali accused the opposition parties of running away from the election while the opposition was urging them to hold the election soon.

He said, "We want to hold everything accountable from the election." Leader Gyawali stressed that the MCC should be in the mutual interest of the country and accused the Maoists of mocking it.

Dinesh Panthi, in charge of UML Gulmi and Bhumishwar Dhakal, in charge of Rupendehi, among others, said that UML was the mainstream of the communist movement. Khim Khadka, secretary of CPN-Gulmi, and Narayan Poudel have joined UML.
