National Assembly Vice-chair Urmila Aryal has said that there is a plan of forming a network of women vice-chairpersons from the province level to the local levels throughout the country.
Talking to journalists at her office in Singha Durbar today, the Vice-chairperson of the upper house of the Federal Parliament shared that discussions were on regarding the formation of a network for enhancing the capacity of women.
She spoke of the plan to conduct women's leadership orientation and women empowerment programs building coordination with the chairperson of the Rural Municipalities and the Rural Municipalities' Federation, among other organizations. Vice-chairperson Aryal expressed confidence that the responsibilities would be made effective by increasing the activeness of the post. "We have to do our level best to make the role and responsibility of our post more effective. We should strive to take up higher positions than that of the Vice-chair," she asserted.
The National Assembly vice-chair opined that there is a situation to enhance our position's dignity and an enabling environment could be created by increasing the women lawmakers' capacity and holding discussions on the bills presented in the parliament and taking suggestions. Stating that the position of the vice-chair was not a neglected post, she expressed the confidence that the post's dignity and gravity could be established through coordination and collaboration for enhancing leadership development and decision-making capacity.
