In the ACC U-19 Asia Cup in UAE, Nepal lost to Sri Lanka by 60 runs. After the opposition team set a huge target of 323 runs, Nepal was able to only score 262 runs in 47.5 overs losing all their wickets. Nepal has been knocked out of the group stage after two consecutive defeats.
From this group, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have reached the semifinals by winning two games in a row. Nepal had lost the first match by 154 runs. Nepal, which is in Group B, will play its last match against Kuwait on Tuesday. Kuwait has also lost two games in a row.
Wicketkeeper Arjun Saud is the top scorer for Nepal with 64 runs while Vivek Yadav scored 46, Wasir Ahmed 43, Basanta Karki 34, and captain Dev Khanal 28 runs. On the bowling side, Robin De Silva and Mathis Pathirana took 3-3 wickets for Sri Lanka.
Batting first after winning the toss at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka lost 4 wickets in 50 overs and scored 322 runs.
