National Sports Council has sought action against Rajiv Gurung, alias Deepak Manange, lawmaker of the National Assembly of Gandaki Province and who was recently appointed provincial minister of physical infrastructure. The council has taken offence to the remarks made by Manange during an interview with Gandaki Online News Television.
The National Sports Council has issued a statement mentioning that the remarks made by Manange about Ramesh Silwal, Member-Secretary of the council, and Rajesh Gurung, member of the council, were derogatory and without any basis.
The statement adds that such remarks from a lawmaker who is also a minister are an affront to a democratic and civilised society. The council has further added that action must be initiated against Manange as per the country’s prevailing laws for the derogatory remarks that he made.
