Palesha Gobardhan, who won the country's first bronze medal in Taekwondo in Paris, will be warmly welcomed when She comes to Kathmandu today. Coach Kabiraj Negi Lama and another player Bharat Mahata and the Manager are also coming with her team. After landing at Tribhuvan International Airport today morning, Palesha will be given a grand welcome and will be toured around various places in Kathmandu. A welcome program has been arranged at the National Sports Council in Tripureshwar.
For the first time in the history of Nepali sports, Para Tetwando Palesha Govardhan has become the first Nepali athlete to win the highest-level medal for Nepal. Para taekwondo player Palesha Govardhan won the bronze medal by defeating Maria Missev of Serbia by 15-8 in the women's under 57 kg K44 category. Nepal has been participating in the Olympics since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
