A calibration flight will be held today at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu to test a new runway. A calibration flight from Gautam Buddha International Airport to Tribhuvan International Airport is scheduled to take off today.
According to Teknath Sitaula, spokesperson of the airport office, a mechanical test flight is being conducted at the airport to test the two systems. One of these radio devices will be tested to see if it works.
The light connected to the other runway will be tested. This light helps in the landing of the ship.
No such test has been conducted after runway extension at Tribhuvan Airport ever before. Regular flights will be affected during the test.
Sitaula informed that the planes can be halted during the test flight which lasts for two hours at a time. He said that the situation of having to close the airport may not come up. He informed that a meeting is underway to operate a calibration flight at the airport and the flight will be operated at the time fixed by the same meeting.
