The Udaipur Cement Industry, located in Jaljale of Udaipur District, the country's largest and government-owned, has been shut down for the past two weeks due to power supply problems. It is about to close.
The industry, which has been incurring a daily loss of more than Rs 7.3 million, had to incur a loss of Rs 160 million within two weeks after the power supply was cut off, said General Manager Gopi Krishna Neupane.
The industry administration has stated that the industry has not been able to produce cement as only two megawatts of electricity are being supplied daily out of the required six megawatts.
Pankaj Goit, head of the Udayapur-based Electricity Authority, said that there was a problem in the transmission of electricity as the replacement or repair work of the transformer at Gaighat Center in Lahan, Siraha had not been completed yet.
He said that there was a problem in the direct supply of electricity to Lahan Gaighat as it could take time even though the work of repairing and managing the power was underway.
