The Afghan police have arrested 10 suspects involved in drug smuggling and seized a huge quantity of illicit drugs in east Afghanistan's Khost province over the past three days, an official said on Tuesday.
The contraband, which includes 2,640 kg of hashish, 1,951 pieces of tablet K, and objects used in manufacturing heroin, was discovered, provincial police spokesperson Tahir Ahrar said.
Afghan authorities have intensified their crackdown on illicit drugs and those involved in the underground business as security personnel arrested 10 alleged drug smugglers in Herat, Nangarhar and Nimroz provinces over the past two days.
The Afghan caretaker government has vowed to fight against poppy cultivation and opium trade in the war-torn country.
