Fake Bhutanese refugee case: Chairman of Nepal Haj Committee arrested

Nepal Haj Committee Chairman Shamsher Mian has been arrested for his involvement in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees.

The police arrested him this afternoon from Singha Darbar. Chief of District Police Complex Kathmandu and Senior Superintendent of Police Dan Bahadur Karki informed that Chairman Mian was arrested after it was found that He was involved with a gang of frauds in the name of sending fake Bhutanese refugees to America.

According to him, the vehicle that was provided for the use of the Haj Committee was provided by the chairman of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mian, to the gang who cheated in the name of refugees. The police said that it was revealed that the committee's vehicle was used in the case of Bhutanese refugees.

The police have seized a petrol jeep bearing the number BAB-1405 owned by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The police claim that the gang members used to go to the vehicle after calling the victims for biometrics and interviews.

According to the district police, in Kathmandu, the investigation revealed that the gang members used the vehicle when they went to take interviews in places like Sauraha in Chitwan and Sundhara in Kathmandu. It has been found that the ZIP with the embossed number BAB-1405 is in the name of the Nepal Haj Committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to the police, the Chairman of the Nepal Haj Committee, Mian, has been out of contact since the police started investigating the case of fake Bhutanese refugees.
