The Ministry of Health and Population has said that there will be no vaccination campaign against corona virus in the local level election to be held on April 12.
Ministry spokesperson Dr. Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra said that the vaccination program was postponed on election day as it would be difficult to run additional vaccination centers and regular vaccination campaigns.
Earlier, the ministry had planned to run a vaccination center at the polling station. "As health workers will be mobilized at the polling stations to conduct the election and health workers will also have to exercise their voting right, it will be difficult to run additional vaccination centers and regular vaccination campaigns on election day," he said.
He said that regular vaccination campaign would be conducted at the vaccination center before and after the election and requested everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as much as possible.
The ministry has urged the people to be vigilant and adopt public health standards as the risk is likely to increase in Nepal as the number of infections in neighboring countries is increasing in recent days.
