People alerted as water level in Seti River rises significantly

Due to the incessant rain since the last few days the water level in Seti River has started rising. Since the water level has been rising to dangerous levels the District Administration Office has warned people living in settlements close to the river to be careful and move to safer locations.

The meteorological stations located in Gopghat of Doti and Dipayal has informed that the water level in Seti River has risen above the ‘warning’ point. The water flow in the river at the moment is 8.4 cusecs. The stations have mentioned that when the water flow is at 3.5 cusecs it is a sign of floods.

The flood has started washing away agricultural lands close to the river. The local police have warned the people living close to the river to be extra careful at night. The police have also started stopping people from going close to the river.

Chief District Officer Sunil Khanal informed that people living in dangerous places have been asked to move to safer locations. Moreover, people have also been warned to refrain from going to the river for fishing. He also mentioned that personnel of Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force have been asked to stay in ‘high alert’.
