As there seems to be no end to the internal strife within CPN UML, Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, who is also chairperson of the party, has decided to be a bit more flexible in addressing the demands of the disgruntled party leaders.
One of the major demands of senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, against whom the party had taken disciplinary action, was that the structure of the party be reverted to what it was on May 16, 2018. Oli has decided to address this demand made by the discontented faction. Moreover, since the Supreme Court had also ruled that the decisions taken by the organising committee of the party’s 10th general convention were not valid, he was compelled to show some flexibility.
The Standing Committee meeting held today has decided formally revert to the structure of the party as it was on May 16, 2018, on June 30.
