The Nepali Congress has extended one more day for the committee to investigate the party's active membership row following failure to forge a consensus on party active membership distribution. A meeting of party sitting and former office bearers on Wednesday at the private residence of party president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha took the decision, said party spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma. The meeting is taking place on Thursday again.

In the meeting, the committee submitted a report related to party membership distribution. The committee was formed on February 19 by the party central executive committee to prepare a final name-list of party active members for the upcoming party's 14th general convention after updating details of party membership. Party central member Ramesh Lekhak leads the committee.

Other members of the committee are party leaders Aananda Dhungana, Jiban Pariyar, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Pradip Poudel, Kalyan Gurung and Yogendra Chaudhary. The number of party active members for its 14th general convention that is scheduled for September 1-4 in Kathmandu has reached 852,711
