A warm welcome to the Senior Mountain guide Pasang Namgel Sherpa

Senior guide Pasang Namgel Sherpa of Imagine Nepal Treks and Expedition Company was warmly welcomed in Kathmandu today. Sherpa has successfully completed all 14 of the 8000-meter peaks, along with two additional peaks: Lhotse Sar (8400m) and Yalung Khang (8505m), a mountain located in the Kanchenjunga range. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Mountaineering Association and representatives of various organizations related to mountains were present to welcome him at Tribhuvan International Airport. He was taken along with a rally to the Buddha in Kathmandu.

At the ceremony organized in Buddha, Director of Tourism Department Rakesh Gurung said that the government aims to support the welfare of mountain climbers by establishing the Sherpa Climbing Welfare Fund. He said that the goal is to prevent the climbing profession from falling into crisis and to prevent climbers from migrating abroad. He informed that the government is going to open 57 new picks.

Senior Vice President of Nepal Mountaineering Association Thakurraj Pandey said that the rights and interests of climbers should be included in the new Tourism Act. The ceremony was presided over by Galgen Sherpa, Managing Director of Imagine Nepal Treks and Expeditions.
