Tulsipur police in Dang district have arrested a mother and son with about 20 grams of brown sugar following a house raid. Sushila and her son Rohan Shrestha were arrested along with 99 small and one big "puriya" totaling 19 grams and 710 mg of brown sugar during a raid on the family home of 38-year-old Sushila Shrestha at Tulsipur Sub-Metropolis-5 on Saturday evening.
According to Shyamu Aryal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tulsipur, they were found making puriya for the distribution of brown sugar. Although Sushila's house is behind the electricity office at Tulsipur Sub-metropolis-6, she is currently living in Tulsipur-5. According to the police, the mother and son are brown sugar traders.
Chief Aryal said that her husband Basanta Shrestha was also involved in the scam. A large quantity of brown sugar has been recovered in Tulsipur.
Before the raid, two people were also arrested from Tulsipur Bus Park. The investigation had recovered 540 mg of brown sugar from Dheeraj Budhathoki, 25, a resident of Tulsipur-5 bus park, and 260 mg of brown sugar from Shah, a resident of Babai Gaonpalika-4, Baruwagaun.
